On the Pointwise Limit of Vector Charges with the Saks Property

The well-known theorem about the density of the space of probability charges with the Saks property in the space of all probability charges in the pointwise topology is proved in the vector case. New features are the uniform Saks property for the family of charges and sufficient conditions for the pointwise limit of a sequence of charges to have the Saks property.     

Functional Quantization and Small Ball Probabilities for Gaussian Processes

Quantization consists in studying the L ^r -error induced by the approximation of a random vector X by a vector (quantized version) taking a finite number n of values. We investigate this problem for Gaussian random vectors in an infinite dimensional Banach space and in particular, for Gaussian processes. A precise link proved by Fehringer⁽⁴⁾ and Dereich et al. ⁽³⁾ relates lower and upper bounds for small ball probabilities with upper and lower bounds for the quantization error, respectively. We establish a complete relationship by showing that the same holds for the direction from the quantization error to small ball probabilities. This allows us to compute the exact rate of convergence to zero of the minimal L ^r -quantization error from logarithmic small ball asymptotics and vice versa.     

The Coordinatewise Uniformly Kadec–Klee Property in Some Banach Spaces

We introduce a new property UKK _c for a Banach space and show for an Orlicz sequence space the following: UKK _c H _{c 2}.     

On an Embedding Criterion for Interpolation Spaces and Application to Indefinite Spectral Problems

An embedding criterion for interpolation spaces is formulated and applied to the study of the Riesz basis property in the L _2,g space of eigenfunctions of an indefinite Sturm–Liouville problem u=gu on the interval (-1,1) with the Dirichlet boundary conditions, provided that the function g(x) changes sign at the origin. In particular, the basis property criterion is established for an odd g(x). Some connections with stability in interpolation scales are discussed.     

AFPP vs FPP

The main theme of this paper is that almost fixed point properties of discrete structures and fixed point properties of (topological) spaces are interdeducible via a suitable category which contains both graphs and spaces as objects. To carry out the program, we have to consider (almost) fixed points of multifunctions, and for this we need a preliminary discussion of power structures for graphs and simplicial complexes. Specific applications developed are: a digital convexity (discrete) version of Kakutani's fixed point theorem for convex-valued multifunctions; and fixed point properties of dendrites in terms of those of finite discrete trees.     

Structure of Regular Solutions of the Three-Body Schrödinger Equation near the Pair Impact Point

We investigate the six-dimensional Schrödinger equation for a three-body system with central pair interactions of a more general form than Coulomb interactions. Regular general and special physical solutions of this equation are represented by infinite asymptotic series in integer powers of the distance between two particles and in the sought functions of the other three-body coordinates. Constructing such functions in angular bases composed of spherical and bispherical harmonics or symmetrized Wigner D-functions is reduced to solving simple recursive algebraic equations. For projections of physical solutions on the angular bases functions, we derive boundary conditions at the pair impact point.     

Modules with the Direct Summand Sum Property

The present work gives some characterizations of R-modules with the direct summand sum property (in short DSSP), that is of those R-modules for which the sum of any two direct summands, so the submodule generated by their union, is a direct summand, too. General results and results concerning certain classes of R-modules (injective or projective) with this property, over several rings, are presented.     

Estimation over Curves of the Functions Given by Dirichlet Series on a Half-Plane

We study the maximal term of the Hadamard composition of Dirichlet series with real exponents. We obtain a lower estimate for the sum of a Dirichlet series over a curve arbitrarily approaching the convergence line.     

Edgeworth Expansions for Studentized Versions of Symmetric Finite Population Statistics

We show the validity of the one-term Edgeworth expansion for Studentized asymptotically linear statistics based on samples drawn without replacement from finite populations. Replacing the moments defining the expansion by their estimators, we obtain an empirical Edgeworth expansion. We show the validity of the empirical Edgeworth expansion in probability.     

Duality Theory in Fuzzy Linear Programming Problems with Fuzzy Coefficients

The concept of fuzzy scalar (inner) product that will be used in the fuzzy objective and inequality constraints of the fuzzy primal and dual linear programming problems with fuzzy coefficients is proposed in this paper. We also introduce a solution concept that is essentially similar to the notion of Pareto optimal solution in the multiobjective programming problems by imposing a partial ordering on the set of all fuzzy numbers. We then prove the weak and strong duality theorems for fuzzy linear programming problems with fuzzy coefficients.
